UAB Ekobana successfully completes construction of the 110/6 kV Drūkšiai transformer substation

In spring 2026, Ekobana successfully completed the construction of the new 110/6 kV Drūkšiai transformer substation, commissioned by the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (Altra).

As part of the project, Ekobana delivered the full scope of works, including preparation of the detailed design, engineering, manufacturing, delivery and installation of two 110/6 kV, 16 MVA power transformers, installation of a 6 kV indoor switchgear system, configuration and commissioning of protection and automation systems, installation of communication and data transmission networks, as well as all required testing.

The new transformer substation ensures a reliable power supply to the infrastructure supporting the decommissioning of the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant and to radioactive waste management and storage facilities. The project represents an important part of the long-term Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning programme.

The final works acceptance certificate was signed on 3 April 2026. The Client confirmed that all contractual obligations had been fulfilled properly, to the required quality standards and without any remarks.
